Enroll in Autism & Special Needs Care Training

The Recruitment NYC Special Needs Care and Support Training is a seven (7) day, forty-two (42) hour comprehensive training program that goes beyond a traditional Home Health Aide continuing education course. It combines practical caregiving skills, autism awareness, communication techniques, behavior support, daily living assistance, and professional home care practices into one program that caregivers can immediately apply in real-world settings.

The program focuses on supporting children with autism and other developmental and learning differences in their homes and communities. Participants gain practical strategies for promoting communication, independence, emotional regulation, school readiness, and positive daily routines while learning to work as part of a child's support team.

Who may enroll: Home Health Aides (HHAs), Personal Care Aides (PCAs), Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), parents and family caregivers, nursing students, healthcare professionals, and childcare providers. A certificate or license is not required to enroll.

Same program, same 42 hours, same $400 — two schedules. Choose your group in the form below.

• Queens group (Rego Park): seven consecutive days, Monday–Sunday. Attend fully in person, or hybrid — Days 1–5 live on Zoom, Days 6–7 in person.
• Bronx group: two weekends — Saturday & Sunday, then the next Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM. Attend fully in person, or hybrid — Days 1–3 live on Zoom, Day 4 in person for hands-on CPR, the final assessment and placement.

The school may adjust the order of subjects or substitute instructors of equal qualification; total instructional hours will not be reduced.

• Final assessment: 20–25 multiple-choice questions, a skills demonstration (communication, reinforcement, and safety scenarios), and participation in practical exercises.
• A passing score of 80% is required to earn the certificate.
• Students who pass receive the Recruitment NYC Special Needs Care and Support Training Certificate (Certificate of Completion), documenting Autism Fundamentals, Inclusive Caregiving, ABA Foundations, Communication Supports, Daily Living Assistance, Learning Through Play, Pediatric Safety, and the CPR Module.
• A student who does not pass may retake the assessment once at no additional charge, subject to scheduling.

• The $50.00 enrollment fee is paid at signing, secures the seat in the class, and is non-refundable under all circumstances.
• Payment options: (1) Pay in full — $400.00 at signing. (2) Weekly plan, $50 a week — $50.00 enrollment fee at signing (it secures the seat); the $350.00 balance in seven (7) weekly payments of $50.00, charged automatically to the card on file on the day of the week the student chooses, starting on the first such day after signing. (3) Pay per class day — $50.00 enrollment fee at signing; the $350.00 tuition is split evenly over the class days and charged automatically to the card on file (Queens: $50.00 on each of 7 class days; Bronx: $87.50 on each of 4 class days), so the full $400.00 is paid by the last class day.
• Weekly plan, $25 a week — $50.00 enrollment fee at signing; the $350.00 balance in fourteen (14) weekly payments of $25.00, charged automatically to the card on file on the day of the week the student chooses. On this plan the full $400.00 must be paid within sixteen (16) weeks of signing.
• Card on file: for the weekly plan and pay per class day, the student authorizes Recruitment NYC to keep the card used at signing on file (stored securely by Stripe) and to charge it as described above. A declined charge is retried up to three (3) more times, three (3) days apart, and the student is notified by email.
• The full $400.00 must be paid within eight (8) weeks of signing. If it is not paid in full within eight weeks, and the student has not made a written alternative payment arrangement with Recruitment NYC, the account may be referred to a collection agency. If the account is referred to a collection agency, the student agrees to pay, in addition to the unpaid balance, the collection costs Recruitment NYC actually incurs, up to 33.3% of the unpaid balance.
• Not attending? Tell us. A student who will not attend, or stops attending, must notify Recruitment NYC by phone at (347) 629-9916 or in writing (email, text or letter). The student owes the $50.00 enrollment fee plus tuition for each class day held before the notice date ($50.00 per day in Queens, $87.50 per day in the Bronx); notice before Day 1 means only the $50.00 fee is owed. Until we receive notice, the student stays enrolled and scheduled payments continue. Overpayments are refunded to the card within 14 days.
• No certificate will be issued until all tuition and fees are paid in full.

• Attendance is required at all class days — seven (7) in the Queens group, four (4) in the Bronx group; full participation in all 42 instructional hours is required to complete the program.
• Hybrid students only: Days 1–5 (Queens) or Days 1–3 (Bronx) are attended live on Zoom. The student must join with their own name, remain connected for the full session, and take part when the instructor calls on them. Video is not required. Recorded sessions are not a substitute for attending. Students enrolled fully in person attend all seven days at their selected office.
• In both formats, Days 6 and 7 in Queens, and Day 4 in the Bronx, must be attended in person at the student’s selected office. The hands-on CPR & First Aid skills check and the final assessment cannot be completed remotely.
• Hybrid students are responsible for their own internet connection and device. A missed Zoom session due to a student-side technical problem is treated as a missed class day.
• A missed class day may be made up in the next available class cycle, subject to seat availability, with no additional enrollment fee.
• Certificates are issued by Recruitment NYC upon successful completion of all program hours, the final assessment, and any required skills demonstrations.

The Recruitment NYC Special Needs Care and Support Training Certificate verifies successful completion of this training program. It is not a state-issued professional license and does not replace any certification or licensure required by law. Completion of this program does not confer any new professional license, certification, or title, and does not authorize the student to perform any task outside the scope of practice permitted by their existing credential (if any) under applicable New York State law and regulation.

The ABA Basics module is educational in nature and does not certify the student as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), behavior analyst, ABA therapist, or clinician of any kind.

The Emergency Preparedness & CPR Awareness module provides a CPR overview as part of this course. Recruitment NYC issues its own course certificate; an official CPR credential (CPR card), where offered, is issued only by an authorized certifying body (such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross) through a certified instructor, and is governed by that provider's requirements.
